Branch 1048 Committees

We currently have seventeen (17) working committees.  At the present time, several important committees are vacant.  We are seeking qualified applicants to serve as Chairs of the Economic Development, Women in NAACP (WIN),  Housing, and the College Chapter.


 


The purpose of this Committee is to enlist the support of other community organizations on issues affecting the interests of people of color

 

Community


.  The purpose of this Committee is to eliminate segregation, discriminatory practices, and educational conditions affecting students in the public education system.  They also strive to promote parental involvement.

.  The purpose of this Committee is to promote, protect, and maintain the health of African Americans and other minority-based populations by assessing the health needs of the community and advocating for equal access to health education, care, treatment, and research.  The Chair of this committee is Daniel Lucky


Health Care and Health Education



The purpose of this Committee is to improve the economic status of minority groups through elimination of discriminatory employment practices, encouraging greater participation in trade union movement, and working for improved opportunities in vocational and apprenticeship training. 

Labor and Industry


The purpose of this Committee is to investigate complaints and supervise litigation because of the complaints.  It is not responsible for providing legal advice.

The purpose of this committee is to maintain and increase membership through planning and organizing an annual membership campaign and soliciting new members and renewals on a continuing basis.

Membership
The purpose of the NAACP Prison Project is to promote partnerships, legislation, and initiatives that positively impact inmate recidivism, ex-felon re-enfranchisement and racial disparities within the criminal justice system, as well as provide the incarcerated with a vehicle of empowerment through the formation of Prison Branches.

The priorities for the Project are to assist in national, state, and local efforts to re-enfranchise former felons who have served their sentence, reactivate former prison branches and activate new prison branches, assist in providing voter registration and voter education, address disparate treatment of inmates, identify and provide referrals for inmates and their families through collaborative partnerships.



The purpose of this Committee is to promote educational programs designed to give moral and ethical interpretation to the civil rights struggle, enlist the support of organized religious groups for membership and fundraising, and provide resource assistance for religious education and social action activities associated with the improvement of race relations.  The Chair for this Committee is Nathaniel Green

Religion Chair

The purpose of this Committee is to address civil rights issues affecting women and children and promoting or holding other civil and cultural activities to enhance membership.  The Committee will do this in a way that will enhance the leadership role of women; serve as an advocacy vehicle; and advocate for the positive development of children.  The WIN theme is:
