| | Who May Register to Vote
A person is entitled to register to vote in Stanislaus County if they are:
- A U. S. citizen
- A resident of California
- A resident of Stanislaus County
- Not in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony
- At least 18 years of age on the date of the election
- Not declared to be mentally incompetent by a court
How and Where To Register
To register to vote, a person needs to complete and sign a Voter Registration Form and mail it to the Elections Office of the County Clerk-recorder / Registrar of Voters. These forms are pre-addressed and postage paid.
Voter registration forms are also available at the Elections Division, 1021 I Streete, Suite 101, Modesto (corner of 11th and I Streets). Forms are also available at the
- Post Office
- Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV)
- City Clerks Offices
- Public Libraries
- Chambers of Commerce
- High Schools
You may also register to vote at one of a number of tables set-up outside of stores, etc or call (209) 525-5200 to have one mailed to you.
When To Register
You must be registered at least 15 days prior to an election in order to vote in that election. Once you are registered, you will remain on the rolls and be eligible to vote until you move out of the county or become ineligible. Failure to vote does not make you ineligible.
