What is Racial Profiling?

Racial profiling is when law enforcement representatives prejudge an individual based upon their ethnicity.  When police, search more black or hispanics than white suspects presuming they will find weapons or drugs, that is racial profiling.  When no clear reason to believe they are involved in any crime is found, they are often charged with petty vehicular offenses.  Although the police departments state that they do not use racial profiling, their stats prove they do.

What you can do about racial profiling?

Laws are passed and cases taken to court, but YOU are the most important part of stopping Racial Profiling and Police Harassment.  The step to take is to report all incidents.  This information provides the power to change our current systems to provide justice to all people equally.

"The report, released to the city's Community Racial Profiling Commission late Thursday, also said black and Latino motorists were asked to get out of their vehicles at a higher rate than Asian and white drivers."

"The report recommended the Police Department re-evaluate its racial-profiling policies, continue to collect data on traffic stops, provide refresher courses to officers on department policy and conduct a series of meetings with the community."
