Issue/Action Alerts
The Washington Bureau distributes information papers on legislation and issues important to the NAACP. Two types are:
Issue Alerts - provide information on issue that are important to the NAACP and upon which we are expecting legislation to be introduced in the near future, but has not been introduced yet. An Issue Alert provides the reader with an outline of the message box and a sample letter asking them to be original co-sponsors of the legislation or to oppose it when it is introduced.
Action Alerts - provide information on an issue where a bill has been introduced to Congress and readers are encouraged to contact their federally elected representatives (members of the U.S. House or U. S. Senate or both) to advocate a particular position. Action Alerts provide an outline of the situation, as well as how to contact their Representatives and Senators, a message box and a sample letter.
